Press Release
Point Lisas Directory 2007 - Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd.
Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd has always been at the forefront of introducing new technology in Trinidad and Tobago and by extension the Caribbean.
In fact one of their Associate companies, Super Pave Limited of Lot 15 Plaisance Park is the only Asphalt Plant in Trinidad and Tobago to be ISO 9001:2000 certified by the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards.
Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd has teamed up with Wirten Gmbh of Germany and the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of UWI to introduce a new concept in road rehabilitation in Trinidad.
This new technology ‘Cold In Place Recycling’ is being used extensively throughout the world and has tremendous benefits not only in cost savings but there are many environmental benefits.
Cold In Place Recycling technology has been used to successfully rehabilitate roads in Trinidad for PLIPDECO approximately 4 km, Ministry of Works 1.4 km and the HDC.
Recycling machines have evolved over the years from modified milling machines and soil stabilizers to the specialized recyclers of today. As they are specifically designed to have the capacity of recycling of thick pavement layers in a single pass, modern recyclers tend to be large powerful machines which may be either track mounted or mounted on high flotation pneumatic tyres. The full range of Wirt-gen machines and their various recycling applications as described below. The heart of the recycling machine is the milling and mixing rotor equipped with a large number of special cutting tools. The drum normally rotates upwards, pulverizing the material in the existing road pavement.
As the machine moves forward with the drum rotating, water from a tanker coupled to the recycler is delivered through a flexible hose and is sprayed into the recycler’s mixing chamber. The rate of delivery is metered accurately through a microprocessor controlled pumping system and the rotating drum mixes the water thoroughly with the recycler material to achieve the moisture content necessary for achieving high levels of compaction.
Fluid stabilizing agents, like cement/water slurry or bitumen emulsion, either individually or in combination, can also be introduced directly into the mixing chamber in a similar manner. In addition, foamed bitumen may be injected into the mixing chamber through a separate specially designed spraybar, powdered stabilizing agents, such as hydrated lime, are normally spread on the surface of the existing road ahead of the recycler. The recycler passes over the powder, mixing it together with the recovered material and injected water, a single operation.
